Apply these 8 simple tips and instantly make more professional photos for your brand or business!
The cameras in smartphones are getting better and better, so lately, we can take a lot more professional photos with our phone. We always have the phone in our pocket, so a photo-worthy moment is easily captured! But you’re going to want to do this in the right way. In this blog, we discuss 8 simple points that you can use to make beautiful, more professional photos with your smartphone.
1. USE THE GRID
If you enable the grid in your camera settings, the lines divide the screen into 9 parts. When you take a picture of a landscape, for example, it obviously turns out a lot better if it is a straight picture. The lines are very useful for that! You can also use the grid to make your photo a little more exciting. When you take a picture of a building or a person, for example, let one of the lines run across the subject. The position of the lines are just the right places to be able to capture a subject exactly in the spot you want it.
2. MAKE SURE THERE IS ENOUGH LIGHT
Smartphones are no substitutes for professional cameras. When you take a picture in a room where it’s too dark the picture will turn out vague and unclear. So make sure you take a picture in a room with enough light. Find a spot next to a window, use a good lamp or even better: go outside!
3. CLEAN YOUR LENS
What many people forget before they take a picture with their smartphone: cleaning the lens. By holding the phone you often touch the lens with your fingers. When you take a picture with a stain on the lens you will get a blurry picture. Sad, because this problem is solved! Just cleaning with your shirt and your professional photos are pretty sharp.
4. SET SHARP ON THE OBJECT
When you take a photo, tap with your finger on the object that you prefer to focus. Your camera focuses on the object that you prefer to bring forward. If you take a photo up close, you get a very nice depth of field!
5. USE THE PANORAMA FUNCTION
You can use the panorama function to take beautiful pictures of your view, for example. But you can also use it to get a building or view in the picture, creating a kind of wide angle. Follow the instructions on your smartphone, your smartphone puts it together and you have the whole building on the picture.
6. USE THE PROFESSIONAL SETTINGS
With this option, you can manually adjust things such as light, shutter speed, color, and focus. All things that a professional camera also has, but it is, and remains a smartphone camera. However, with this option you have lost more time and the automatic function is just as good in most cases, but if you want to take specific photos, the professional settings are a great option.
7. NEVER USE THE ZOOM FUNCTION
The difference with a professional camera and a telephone is that you digitally zoom in with a telephone. When you zoom in with your phone camera, the quality deteriorates dramatically. Don’t do it! If you want to take a professional photo up close, go closer to the object.
8. USE SMARTPHONE LENSES
You’ve probably seen them: lenses that you can put on a smartphone. Usually, there are 3 lenses: Fisheye, macro, and a wide-angle lens. Often they are for sale for a few euros. They give just that effect that your phone can’t give you on its own. So you can take a close-up picture of a flower or insect, or a photo of the entire room with the wide-angle lens. Nice to play with and make different kinds of pictures.
If you apply these 8 points into account, you can make the most beautiful, more professional photos with your smartphone in no time. Don’t forget, its also a good idea to use special photo editing apps to edit your photos to your house style.
